Sports and life have a lot in common. Sometimes we win and sometimes we lose, but we can always learn something from it.
The students of 2ndESO have been doing research on inspiring athletes. Here are two examples of their work.
NIL RIUDAVETS
Written by Jan Pons, Carla Pons and Diego Poveda.
Nil Riudavets was born 3rd April 1996, in Maó. Since he was little, he played a lot of sports. He played football and tennis, and he also did triathlons.
When he was 17 years old, he decided to do triathlons after Batxillerat. He was a great triathlete, until he got an injury on the 1st of May 2019. He got in an accident doing his sport and his arm got broken and immobilized. He learned to move forward and do his best to get great.
Finally, in 2022, he returned to doing triathlons after years of work. In his first Paralympics Games, in 2024, he won his first medal, a gold medal in triathlon, in an interesting race, from the 8th place to the first one.
He showed us you can be great with difficulties too. Nil has also taught us to never give up, that we can do more than what we think with difficulties like he did.

Brigit was born on 5th May 1987 in Norway. She is an athlete in para-rowing (adaptive rowing).
She had a car accident in 2009. While she was recovering she decided to join this paralympic sport. After the accident she had to practice a lot because she wasn't able to walk. While she was practicing this sport, she got a gold medal in the women's single scull rowing competition and she also won multiple world cups. She had to put in a lot of efford, for example adapting and with the public engagement.
After she won loads of medals, she found out that she learnt many things, like patience and the importance of self-belief.
From Brigit we learnt that you always have to believe in yourself and trust your process. Never let others stop you.
